After the introduction, orientation and first speech on the first day, students learned about making stories and building connection when speaking. During this session, they had exercises that made them tell stories and learn about connecting to people which is not just important in public speaking but even in everyday life. Kyle Nofuente was the teacher of the day.

On the third day, on the other hand, they were taught about performance and presence in speech. This is more of how they would wow the audience and engage them through their presence whenever they speak. They learned from Mr. Al Ian Barcelona, a motivational speaker.

And after that, they were able to learn about organizing their speeches including speech writing. Cornelius Bascara was the instructor of the day.

So here they are, SpeechWorx Batch 2. Coming from different fields, they now join each other for a journey to success. And last February 13, we finally welcomed them.

During their first day, they were asked to come in front to speak. Sure, they were nervous but that’s actually the point. Because for the next days, they will never be the same again.

Through the help of their well-experienced teachers, they will surely conquer their fears that are related to public speaking.

Equipped with all the things they need so they could really speak their minds, successful SpeechWorx Batch 1 Students delivered their final speeches, February 6.

Apart from all the essential learning, they also had fun in the course of the training. SpeechWorx is not just an ordinary speech class, after all!

In fact, there have already been a lot of visible improvements not just in the way they speak but also how they carry themselves as individuals. All of the things they have learned here are not just applicable to public speaking but also to their daily professional lives.

So last February 8, they had free speech exercises under Bob Quilapio where they were given the chance to deliver speeches and were evaluated based on these. It was more or less a preparation for their final speeches to be delivered on their last session where they would also have their final evaluation.

Like what is always emphasized in SpeechWorx, public speaking is not just about the skills and content for the voice is also something that matters. This was the focus of the lesson on SpeechWorx’ Day 6, February 7.

Through the instructor of the day, none other than the VoiceMaster Pocholo Gonzales, the students also learned about voice techniques and how it can be used properly in transforming ordinary speeches to extraordinary one.

Carla Mejia, the voice behind several educational audio books and a well-experienced teacher of English as a Second Language, was the instructor of the fifth day of SpeechWorx, which focused on pronunciation and enunciation, last February 6.

Students, on this day, has listening activities for them to learn things related to the lessons and were exposed to these points through related activities which also served a practice for them.

A total of 19 students (nine from the 1-4pm and 10 from the 6-9pm) signed up for this batch and expressed their interest in learning more about oral communication and raise their self confidence level in the art of speaking.

And since at the SpeechCommCenter, students are expected to learn not just from its teachers but also from experience, they were already involved in activities to expose them more to publics speaking. In line with this, they had an activity which designed not just to let them speak but also for them to know more about each other, another very important chunk of communication. They were also given the chance to have their short impromptu speeches which was more of diagnostic examination so the teachers, led by Kyle Nofuente, would know their certain strengths and witnesses.

All the sessions would be recorded as well as well as their performances. This is to have a record of their improvement from time to time. In the end of the workshop, it would be then easier for their teachers to trace their development.

And since the students are also expected to learn about speaking with substance, they were also taught how to develop their ideas in their speeches and therefore, for them to be able to produce speeches that are sound and to ensure that they learned something, they were asked again to speak one by one and deliver their crafted speech.

They were also taught about the ways on how to capture the audience’s attention when speaking. In fact, they learned about how knowing about the trends becomes an advantage in speech for being updated can actually play a big role in the success of one’s speech.

Like the previous days, the attendees also did some activities which were designed not just to expose them more to speaking but to become more comfortable in expressing themselves.

Led by the instructor of the day Kyle Nofuente, these attendees were given a chance to talk about the stories that has big impacts to their own lives. They were also taught how to connect these stories to the things around them so talking to them would be more sincere, alive, and engaging.
